Rocket Park - Deni's Destination Playground
Why not grab the tribe and head out to explore some of Deni's highlights including the infamous Scott's Park aka. Rocket Park. Having undergone a facelift in 2019, the park now features even more play equipment and some beautiful landscaping.
With a new BMX pump track, climbing wall, climbing net, nature play equipment, flying fox and all-abilities play equipment, the precinct has something to appeal to all young people - from toddlers through to teens. Oh, and there’s even a new BBQ shelter so you can cook up a storm for lunch and make it a full day out with the family!
This park has been entertaining locals and visitors alike since the Moon Rocket arrived back in 1968. The Moon Rocket was built by Dick West. His family all worked with horses and he learnt his blacksmith & welding skills from them and on sheep properties where he worked when he left school. Dick built his first playground 'Moon Rocket' in 1961, which he based on plans brought back from America. It was 30 feet high and was the first of 38 moon rockets found in playgrounds around Australia, including our very own at Scott's Park. He also built an elephant slippery slide and a variety of vintage cars amongst other things which are also in Scott's Park.
The classic rocket still remains, albeit it’s also had a fresh lick of paint, and is ready to entertain the next generation and who knows, maybe even the one after that!
Scott's Park, or as the local's have known it for decades (Rocket Park), is the perfect spot to sit back and relax while the kids explore (aka. wear themselves out!). As a bonus you’re right next to the new Water Tower Artwork plus the Deniliquin Swim Centre which features a number of pools and a new splash park too!
